Jibola Speaks : Work Smart not Hard in 2018

Happy New Year Blogfam! It's a new year people! Many of us have listed our new year resolution but if I may ask how many of us truly live by our resolutions. Do you just write because people do or you really do live by your resolution . Let's say you accomplished the one you wrote for 2017 then well done๐Ÿ’ช. For me I stopped writing at the end of the year a long time ago although I usually have plans mapped in my "head" of how I would love my year to go by but Who I Be? Lol God takes the wheel and surpasses my imagination, resolutions or goals. Personally, I do believe in setting goals for my life and I work towards achieveing them daily. However, I may not get it 100% that year but I sure won't be left at where I started at the beginnng of each year. One thing you should know is that you can make resolutions or map out strategies at any point in time. First quarter, second quarter or even the last part of the year the goal is to take a bold step then achieve ev...

Note to Self on my Birthday

My birthday is the 1st day of the Month of April. The popular "April Fools Day" we joke about everything on that day and prank people for the fun of it. If you know me well that is my typical everyday life. I play too much, laugh too much and clown around even without me knowing. April means to Open it also means Spring. I guess we also know it is the beginning of the second quarter of the year.  I think about my accomplishment over the past year and also the experiences of the first quarter century of my life. In 25 years I understood relationships, friendships, Love, Family and business. I have welcomed new friends and families young and old and I have also said goodbye to loved ones. I have made friends and also let friends go. I have learnt that family isn’t just those related to us by blood but anyone who shows themselves to be there even when you thought you would be alone no matter how minute the issue is. I have appreciated life, drew closer to God, ...

How to Make Fried Rice

Hi Everyone, Fried rice is a cousin to jollof rice as we all know and it is also served side by side jollof rice in most Nigerian parties. However, most of the time when fried rice is served it doesnt taste as good as the jollof rice.  Do you know why? It is because it should be cooked in batches and not in mass like jollof rice in other to retain the taste and firm look. As we all know cooking in batches for over 50 to 1000 guest or more will take alot of time and Nigerians most especially the caterers have got no chill while some do not know this secret will and will just cook it making it end up looking mosity.  If you pay close attention you will notice most eatries cook in batches that is the secret to tasty fried rice and even jollof rice to an extent. Personally i really dont like taking fried rice in parties. Jollof is the major Key.  Fried rice is one of the most widely eaten Nigerian food. The process of making fried rice is a bit complicating but w...

Aso Ebi Price Tag Finale

Hello guys, happy new week. Still my take on aso ebi prices. Aso ebi makes an event more beautiful and colourful but as we discussed in the previous post, here are some points i think brides to be and guests should consider. Let me state here that it is not compulsory you sell aso ebi neither is it compulsory your friends or family buy. it is a choice right? Cool. To choose your fabric and prices, brides to be should consider the buyer. We all have  that friend, cousin/ family member that is not bouyant financially. So i will say know your circle. * Brides, consider the pocket of your friends and family . If you know it will affect your pocket or bank account for some time,Aunty dont buy it is not by force. * Dont hike prices so much that the gain incurred from the sales can pay for your wedding. Sister guest, if you know your way to eko market buy the type or colour and use funds left to buy them a lovely gift. *Dont hate on that friend or family that says she has a ...

Aso Ebi Price Tag

Hmmmmnnn... This is a very intresting topic i must say. As a yoruba girl. The word aso ebi means Cloths for Family i.e something that will distinguish family from visitors . Making the family members both nuclear and extended stand out in any ocassion. Suddenly, things changed and it became a general name for fabric sold out to people to wear to events. Weddings, Burial, house warming, birthday,Shop openings,Suprise parties and so on... There is nothing wrong with this though but the price tag on it is what boders me. Brides to be,or host of events and their families should always consider and remember people buy these fabric to show them they love them and are ready to celebrate with them or to be identified with them and not to put them in unnecessary expenses. This post is focusing majorly on brides to be so i will be dropping few points here alongside factors to consider when choosing or putting a price tag on aso ebi. As stated earlier, i personally have no issue with...

Perboil meat and stock fish with seasoning. Do not add excess water while perboiling. Add blended tatashey and rodo when meat is tender. Add dried fish and palmoil  in the pepper stock and leave for 15 minutes so palm oil would have cooked with the stock. Add ogiri and leave to dissolve. The Making Of Akara

Hello Everyone.... Our post for this week should have come in earlier, apologies for the delay. Today i am going to take you through how to make akara. Ingredients. Beans ( brown beans) Rodo (habanero pepper) Tatashe (red bell pepper) Onions Salt Vegetable Oil Do you know there are two methods of removing the skin of the beans? You have the hand method and blender method. Hand method is when you soak the beans and start rubbing them between your hands to peel skin  after which you rinse of the shaft and get ready for blending. If you soak the beans for long it makes it more difficult to peel skin therefore, it is advisable to peel off by rubbing beans between your palm once it is soaked . Blender method is when you put the beans and add  lil water in the blender for like 3 to 5 mins and turn it on. This wouldnt blend the beans yet. It will peel off the skin . You can go ahead to seive and remove shafts from beans. *The Making * Blend peeled beans ...
