The Making Of Akara

Hello Everyone.... Our post for this week should have come in earlier, apologies for the delay.

Today i am going to take you through how to make akara.

Ingredients.

Beans ( brown beans)
Rodo (habanero pepper)
Tatashe (red bell pepper)
Onions
Salt
Vegetable Oil

Do you know there are two methods of removing the skin of the beans? You have the hand method and blender method. Hand method is when you soak the beans and start rubbing them between your hands to peel skin  after which you rinse of the shaft and get ready for blending. If you soak the beans for long it makes it more difficult to peel skin therefore, it is advisable to peel off by rubbing beans between your palm once it is soaked .

Blender method is when you put the beans and add  lil water in the blender for like 3 to 5 mins and turn it on. This wouldnt blend the beans yet. It will peel off the skin . You can go ahead to seive and remove shafts from beans.

*The Making

* Blend peeled beans including the pepper and onions with little water. Making sure it is very thick.

* Pour blended beans in a bowl and stir for about 5  to 10 minutes continiously after adding a little salt to taste.

P.s when you stir it makes the akara soft and more flophy.

* Pour vegetable oil in pot/deep frying pan and heat it up then scoop the paste of beans made with a small oval shaped deep spoon.

* Spoon the paste into the hot oil, one spoon at a time and ensure you flip at intervals  until it is golden brown.

*Remove akara balls and place in a seive or  kitchen saviet/ tissue paper.

Serve with Pap Custard or bread.

The aprylplace....

OBE ILA ASEPO (Okro Soup)

Hello everyone, hope you all had a lovely weekend? Mine was stressful and beautiful. There is a slight difference between obe ila asepo and sea food okra soup. Yes there is. This is actually my mom's best soup. It is the fastest soup to make just like indomie and it is also very economical.  When i was much younger we used grinding stone to blend the sliced okro and we just hit it in style.  That was the most stressfull thing i was asked to do lol but thank God for google now i use blender though my mom still uses grinding stone i think it tastes better but common i cant stress myself. Ingredients/Recipe Obe ILa Asepo ( Ondo style) Ingredients Okro Grounded pepper (Atagigun) Rodo Smoked fish Grounded crayfish Palm oil  Salt Seasoning cubes to taste Fish/meat/chicken  *Wash okro and slice in circles. * Put the sliced okro in a blender  and grind bristly for about 3 minutes(not smooth at all) *pour two glass cups of water in a pot
